Now
in its 69th year (though we look much younger), the Los Angeles
International Wine & Spirits Competition is one of the most
prestigious in the United States, attracting thousands of wines
and spirits from around the globe. Nearly 100 international experts
come to Fairplex to participate in the judging. The spirits judging
takes place April 21-23; wine judging takes place May 28-30, after
that, we take a little break.
Since
its inception in 1935, the competition has maintained the highest
standards of integrity and professionalism (yes, in L.A.), earning
USA Today’s recognition as one of the Top 5 wine competitions
in the United States. In
1999, the Los Angeles International Extra Virgin Olive Oils
Competition added an exciting dimension to our world-renowned
wine competition, bringing together the finest international
and domestic oils and an impressive panel of judges. The 2008
extra virgin olive oil competition takes place May 27-29.
